It took my wife being pregnant with our first born son to understand that these days are truly fleeting. I’ve taken more photos for myself in these 9 months than I have ever in my life. I think it took becoming a parent to grasp that these times together with your family are as important as any other times in your life, so I have two options for remembering these days.
Sometimes we just need to make some cool pictures. Sometimes you just want to let the kids run wild and have a good time or get those tried & true wall hangers. That’s where the portrait session comes in to play. These last about an hour or two (or until the kids have a breakdown and start throwing things) and can be anywhere you’d like. They should be somewhere fun for you and your family, doing something you enjoy doing. It doesn’t have to be the most picturesque place on earth, it just has to be meaningful. These cost $500 and include digital downloads of your final images.
And sometimes you’re going to want authenticity. You’re going to want to remember bedtimes, barbecues, bowls of cereal & beach days. You’re going to want to actually relax and put your iPhone down and actually remember these days as they happened instead of getting frustrated that your phone won’t focus on what you want it to focus on. That’s where the family story comes into play. These are longer shoots, usually 6 hours-ish and are largely unposed and undirected. We’ll collaborate to come up with ideas, activities & customize it to photograph your best day. These are $1200 and include a custom designed story book, & for you to look back on share with your family for years to come.
